  17.   Samarium has a silver luster that is not significantly tarnished
  18. under normal room conditions. It can be ignited in air at 150
  19. degrees, however.
  20.   Samarium is a rare earth that ranks fifth in abundance. It is
  21. also a member of the lanthanide series of elements: lanthanum (La)
  22. through lutetium (Lu).
  23.   There are three allotropic forms known at the present time. The
  24. alpha form exists up to 734 degrees and the beta to 922 degrees.
